SIA and Today Art Museum invite you to submit workfor a major exhibition in Beijing this autumn. The exhibition is designed to alert Chinese audiences to the wealth of creative talent emerging from art and design schools in western countries. The exhibits will show how a design and artistic practice was formed through educational experience.
HERE THERE showcases the work of outstanding USA and European art school graduates with up to three years of professional experience in the following disciplines:
HERE </> THERE is open to any graduate from a non-Asian art and design school in the above disciplines. The work submitted must have been done no more than three years after the candidate’s date of graduation.
Submissions can be the result of internships, freelance or self-initiated work, or studio work. Studios may also submit work, as long as it adheres to the three-year rule.
If your work is selected you will be notified by email, and you will be asked to sign an undertaking that you are in a position to grant SIA and TAM permission to display the work.
Upload a digital file of your work and it will be assessed for inclusion by the exhibition’s curators. If you have been successful, you will be contacted by email.
SIA and TAM are looking for approximately 100 items to display. All exhibited work will be extensively captioned with the name of artist, designers or studio. All other relevant details will be included (e.g. client name, date, co-designers, art director, photographer, illustrator, etc.) Before submitting work, please make sure you have permission from all rights holders.
To avoid the costs of shipping, three-dimensional items such as clothes, installations, jewellery, etc., will be exhibited as photographs. Candidates will be responsible for supplying the photographs (as digital files), but the photographic blow ups will be done by the exhibition’s organisers in China at their expense. All you have to do is supply a photograph that shows your work to its best effect.
WHY SHOULD YOU TAKE PART?
As a recent graduate, you are on the first step of the ladder towards building a career in a chosen field. Having your work exhibited in a leading gallery in one of the world’s great cities is an excellent way to get your name in front of a wide range of people.
And there’s more. Entrance is free, and for a few candidates, there is the possibility of an all-expenses paid trip to China to attend the opening of the exhibition. Watch this space for more details.
